Sailor Nirvana
Tenka Kagami
Meaning: Tenka (Descent from Heaven) Kagami (Mirror - which is a spirit ward)(Reflection of the Descent from Heaven)
Birth date: September 23rd
Sign: Libra (Symbolic of the Judgment of the afterlife)
Gemstone: Sapphire
Blood type: A+
Height: 5'4"
Age: 17
Likes:
Dawn and Dusk - Both times of twilight spark something in her soul, an awareness of balance and the beauty that is in the world. This time belongs to neither good nor evil, heaven nor hell, and is for mortals to make of it what they will.
Philosophy - Another grey area in her life of the sort she enjoys. Some ideas are simply fun to debate and work with, while others have an engaging and insidious power. Either way, she loves to argue them and to work out the details of a logic. In the end, however, she knows that it isn't her opinion of right and wrong, and that this is all a vain exercise.
Pretty girls - On a far more mundane level, she likes to see pretty girls. Not just in a wishful romantic sense, but she enjoys seeing the art put in to beauty. There is a merger of fashion and fancy, of make-up and mystery, and she tries to understand if there is, in Beauty, Truth. This is not to say that she would be unappreciative of beauty in a male, merely slightly surprised and a little less affected, much like a lover of cats can appreciate an excellent dog, but is not as awed.
Domestic Tasks - There is something eminently satisfying for her about keeping her home clean, neat, and well kept, as well as any family and guests well fed and the aroma of a baked good or two wafting through the air. It provides a sense of self worth, and the closest thing to completion she will feel until her domestic dream is completed with a beloved.
Chimes and Bells - Often associated with the afterlife, she finds chimes and bells to be pleasant in this world as well. Wind chimes dangle outside her window and on the porch, and she has a small collection of bells from the different world. She also has some bell jewelry, her favorite of which are a pair of earrings with three tiny chimes on each one.
Favorite Food: Breads, Candies The one is the staple of life, not only useful and nutritious but comforting and delicious, while the other is pure indulgence.
Dislikes:
Dirt - It's perfectly fine in a garden, or otherwise on the ground where it belongs. It is NOT fine in her house (other than around a potted plant), on her clothes, or, heaven forbid, on her body. This includes sand, dust, mud, or anything that has the gritty or dirty feel. She dislikes both the feel of it and the implications that she is anything less than a perfect housekeeper.
Bright Sun - Again, there are two reasons for her dislike. The first is simply that she doesn't like the glare or the heat. She finds it harsh and unpleasant. The second is that prolonged exposure to sun will highlight the faint freckles she has on the bridge of her nose and her arms, which she considers detrimental to her beauty. As a result, she's usually seen with a parasol when she is out and about.
Horses - She's been told that she has always feared horses, even before she came to Evalon with her mother. She's not certain why, but they make her feel very uncomfortable. A great sense of loss haunts her in their presence, and even the smell of a horse on someone will cause a mild stir of discomfort. These aren't incapacitating, simply distasteful. As a result, she has never learned to ride, but she will not refuse to take a carriage someplace. If she goes to a carousel (assuming they exist) she will ride something other than a horse.
Vandalism - Because of her unique perspective, she has a great tie to and love for the past, and the idea that someone would, or even could, want to deface it is repugnant to her. This is doubled if the area is a shrine or other holy area, or a graveyard. In either case, she is actually likely to actively seek out the guilty party and try to bring them to justice.
Hated Food: Beans No particular reason on her part, she just doesn't like them. (Relevance wise, they are often used to drive away ghosts and oni in Japanese purifications)
Hobbies:
Cooking - She doesn't simply cook so that people have food to eat, she cooks because she enjoys it. It's a complex pleasure for her. Not only does she enjoy the end product of the meal, but she loves the smell and warmth, both physical and emotional, during preparation. If it's a quiet day, she'll sometimes make something just to make it, with pies being a specialty.
Sewing - Another domestic hobby, she enjoys sewing and embroidery. It is less of a utilitarian hobby, as she doesn't insist on making everything "homespun". Rather, she likes to sew fancy objects, like the highly adorned pillowcases that grace the beds, or elegant gowns. Simple things she'll either simply buy or quickly make, but it's the ornate that she enjoys.
Collecting Trinkets - In addition to bells and chimes, she has many shelves of small but beautiful items of the essentially useless but decorative nature, like glass dragons or jade unicorns. She keeps them set on velvet or mirrors, as they need, and makes sure to keep them as dust free as possible.
Friends and Family:
Tenka Senkin - Sibling - Handsome and daring, Senkin is the Yang to Kagami's Yin. Senkin, or Kin, is in many ways everything that she thinks she would be looking for in lifemate, and many people who are not familiar with them assume that Kin is her husband. The fact that they are siblings keeps anything from happening, although she will often walk to fairs and such arm in arm with her Kin-kun.
(Note: First, nothing is occurring between them other than what is mentioned there, and second, the mysterious background is set up so that it's possible that they are not actually blood.)
She has numerous friends amongst the girls her age, but they are more acquaintances and people she would trade recipes or gossip with than boon companions.
Appearance:
Eyes: Wide, and a very dark violet, they often have a semi-focussed look which can make her seem distant, airheaded, or wondrous, depending on setting and circumstance. This look does tend to encourage an initial opinion of vapidity.
Face: Her face is oval, with full lips that vary between a mother's subtly reproving frown and a young lady's dreamy smile. Like the rest of her skin, her face is buffed clean and smooth with stiff sponges as well, and, outside of a preference for dark lipstick, much of her makeup is designed to make it seem that she's not wearing much makeup at all.
Build: Slightly short, but exceptionally voluptuous, she has an exaggerated hourglass figure. Her hips and butt are moderately wide and full, and this extends down to some fairly fleshy thighs, and her chest is extremely heavily endowed.
Hair: Her burgundy hair is nearly straight, full bodied, and slightly on the over-thick side. She keeps it well washed, and switches her hairstyle from time to time. Sometimes she weares a single braid over her front shoulder, other times she lets it drape down to mid-back.
Personality:
Quiet but pleasant, she walks through much of her day with a vague smile, as if she was hearing the songs of long ago. She is far more intelligent than many people believe, and when she focuses her mind on something her insight is exceptional. Even when intensely interested in a subject, however, she is never "fiery", but rather more like a still sea or a quiet grave. She absorbs the idea, takes it in, and holds it until she is done with it, at which point she will let it rise up again, with such sea change or rebirth as she felt it engendered.
It is not simply ideas that she treats with this passivity. She tends to take life as it comes to her, and adds her own touches. She tries to be flexible and accepting of what happens, feeling that it's better to make something good out of an event than to rail against it. She would most certainly ascribe to the phrase "If life gives you lemons, make lemonade."
If she does, however, reach the point where she decides that violence is a necessary or viable solution, watch out. While she doesn't revel in violence, or even enjoy it, she can be ruthless when necessary. If she decides that you have done something that merits punishment, she can be as implacable as the judgment of heaven.
Despite all of that, she still has many elements of the Child to her. She thinks she is happy, being almost a wife to Senkin, and keeping their home in perfect order, and playing with her ghosts like imaginary friends. In many ways, she's grown comfortable playing childhood games, like Dress Up and House. As she steps up to her responsibilities as Sailor Nirvana, she will be forced to grow and change, and perhaps discover true romantic love as opposed to the comfortable clinging to a sibling, as she finally reaches Childhood's End.
Special Strengths: Her reactive and adaptable nature lends itself to serenity, and gives her an air of wisdom. She is also a caring person in general. She still bears some of the innocence of a child, despite great knowledge.
Flaws: The same reactionary nature that makes her flexible can also cost her, as it can be used to get the drop on her or to maneuver her to a particular place or action. The most effective way to deal with her is to close out all of her options before doing anything, and then strike quickly and hard.
Additionally, she does have a noticeable streak of vanity. She likes beauty, and tries to be beautiful, which includes primping. She will frequently check her makeup or adjust her hair, which is a major annoyance to her sibling. She has also been known to seek out spectres from hundreds of years earlier just to get advice on the right shade of kohl to go with a certain dress.
Finally, the same elements of childhood that give her some innocence also prevent her from possessing some of the jadedness of experience. She thinks she is far more "adult" and mature than she is, living her life of the perfect wife. She is simply unprepared for the "real world" with its painful edges.
Native Magical Ability:
Shades of the past! Revelation!
This spell requires a mirror or other reflective surface. Focusing her concentration on her reflection, she reaches out her mind and soul to call upon a spirit of the dead. She can call for a specific ghost if she knows that person's full name or has an artifact of theirs. She can also call upon a ghost by announcing a general parameter, such as a native to the region, or a merchant. If she succeeds, and it is not always successful, her reflection becomes that of the spirit, but only in her eyes. She can use this to ask questions and gain information, but anything that mars the reflection ends the effect, and it often grows progressively more difficult to hold a spirit on the border of life. She is, however, unfettered by constraints of language, and can communicate with any spirit she conjures regardless of race, planet, or nationality.
History:
Kagami is the eldest of two children of a woman said to be from the dream realm planet of the Paria, and a man from the world of the Evalon, where they were raised, although there is some question as to whether they are both their children, as Kagami was brought with the woman from her native land. Her mother always seemed distant, and this detachment grew along with her children, until she went to sleep on the eve of Kagami's eighth birthday and never woke in the morning. Kagami, who had been taking care of more and more of the household, simply nodded, took care of the funeral arrangements during her father's bereavement, and maintained the status quo. During her childhood, she was often seen sitting at her mother's grave, sewing and holding a one-sided conversation about her problems, but that ceased on her 15th birthday. She came home that night dressed formally, as one would to a funeral, and simply stated that their mother was gone. Seven years, she explained, was more than one could expect one to stay beyond their time, and she had gone on, and back, and beyond. She then changed and made dinner as if nothing had happened. The father died shortly thereafter, victim of a nasty fever, and she continued to care for Senkin.. When the recent trials for the position of GravityTurquoise were announced, she simply nodded and made arrangements to have their house watched, so she was able to leave the moment Kin announced the intention to participate. She stayed nearby for the weeks of training and competition, but fell asleep and missed the final match. From this slumber she awoke as Sailor Nirvana, senshi of Afterlife. The meeting between Nirvana and GravityTurquoise was uncomfortable, and tense, but the undercurrent of hidden affection still binds them together.

Henshin Phrase: Nirvana Celestial Magi Power! Make Up!
Henshin Pen: A pink pen crested with a gold tip and black butterfly wings
Henshin: From a standing position, right foot beneath her weight, left, slightly back, she drops to a kneeling position, keeping right foot stationary,
sliding left foot back until her left knee is on the ground. Simultaneously, she brings her hands up from her sides to come together before
her. Her index and middle fingers and thumbs are pointed forward, and press together at their tips. Her ring and pinkie fingers are folded
between her hands, and press together on their second joint. Her right forearm rests upon her right knee, and her head is bowed over her hands,
as if in prayer. At this point, an octagonal pattern in glowing purple appears around her, and strange glowing motes rise from the ground.
These sparks dart like fireflies around her. Where they touch, her clothes are gone, and when that spot is touched again, that patch of her
fuku is present. Thus, at any point during her henshin, she has areas in her old clothes, areas in her fuku, and areas unclothed, but these
are constantly shifting towards the full fuku. When she is fully transformed, she stands again, sweeping her arms and leaning her head back. The firefly motes
quickly dart back to the glowing octagon, which shatters around her, ending the henshin. If Wheel is with her at the time, he is hovering, wings swept, above her head.
Paria Spell: Celestial Mandala Heaven! Succor!
By holding her hands before her and concentrating, Sailor Nirvana can generate a complex symbol of white on a purple field. While she maintains concentration, an aura permeates her immediate environment. This aura, nearly tangible in its sanctity, eases pain, causes some healing, and provides a defensive field against things that would assault the mind or soul. Lesser monsters, ghosts, and the like are unable to enter the area, or stay within it, while wild animals would act tame within it. Essentially speaking, it creates an area of "holy ground".
This power has a relatively minor power cost, but does require concentration. Any successful attack stands a chance of disrupting her attention, whether it be a blast, a sword blow, or mad tickling. Additionally, while she is mobile, she can't move at full speed without risking loss of concentration.
Paria Spell: Celestial Mandala Hell! Fury!
She rarely uses this spell, being more used to dealing with anger than focusing it. By casting this spell, she channels part of the power of the afterlife into herself, becoming a living embodiment of punishment, a Fury. In this form, she has multiple razor-sharp bat-like wings, venomous talons and fangs, black metallic skin, glowing purple eyes, and a tail like a scorpion-tipped whip. She also assumes a much greater level of combative skill, strength, and speed, channeling the power and lore of thousands of dead warriors. The fight is usually entered on a kill or be killed basis. She knows that to use this spell frivolously or unjustly is to court her own fall from grace.
Guardian Animal: Wheel - Wheel is a very young phoenix, about the size of a large chicken. His plumage is majestic purples, scarlets, and golds, but he still has some down along his breast, and will for decades. His voice is tiny and high-pitched, but bell-like as opposed to shrill. He is curious, and a bit vain, but does ultimately try to do the right thing. His curiosity does lead him to wander off at times, so he is not always around when Kagami is in trouble...
